I grew up watching my parents work hard to provide: my mom until 6 pm, my dad managing 40 acres apple orchard, and I spent a lot of time on my own because of it. I did not blame them for it. But I promised myself that when I became a mother, if I ever built something of my own, it would not cost my children the same thing.

In the span of about three years, I lost my mother, went through a hard separation, and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that every specialist traced back to the same thing: stress and no rest. My life changed almost overnight, and I had a choice, keep going the way I was, or make a change.

I started with my health, because no one else was going to fix it for me. Then I left my corporate job and started a virtual assistant business.

I told myself that once I left corporate, everything would be different. And for a while, it was. But it did not take long before I was buried again. Too many clients, not enough hours, the very thing I built this business to protect, starting to slip away.

My daughter is the one who showed me the pattern. She started asking, almost every day, if I was done with work yet. One ordinary Tuesday, in the middle of playing Barbies, she asked me why I was playing with her instead of working. That question changed everything.

I stopped asking my team to just take tasks off my plate and started asking them to protect my time. And when I saw how much that changed my life, I knew I could not keep it to myself. I stopped working as a solo VA and built an agency instead, because if this could give me my life back, it could do the same for other moms standing exactly where I had been.
